Links to Important Updates

These links will take you important pages where you can perform updates for your computer. We recommend you visit each one at least once a month.

Windows Update
This is one of the most important web sites to visit. Microsoft's Windows Update will allow you to easily install all of the recommended security updates for Windows. These updates typically come out the second Tuesday of every month, so visit this web site at least once a month.

Following the installation of updates you will need to restart your computer. Once you have restarted, return to the Windows Update web site and install updates until you are told there are no more updates available. This link requires Internet Explorer.

Office Update
Microsoft's Office Update is similar to the above Windows Update except that it will allow you to easily install all of the recommended security updates for Office. You should continue to visit this link until you are told there are no more updates available. This link requires Internet Explorer.

Sun Java
Sun's Java Virtual Machine is a free software component that is required by certain web sites and applications. We consider it a necessary evil; we don't like it, but we almost always have to have it.

It is important to keep your Java updated. Visit this link and click on "Download Now." Follow the instructions to install the latest version. Doing so will eliminate any security vulnerabilities your current version may have.

Adobe Flash Player
Flash is a software component that works with your web browser to deliver interactive or "pretty" content on web sites. Like everything else on this page, it is important to keep it up to date.

Visit this page and follow the instructions to make sure you are running the current version. Doing so will eliminate any security vulnerabilities your current version may have. We recommend un-checking any additional software it wants to install, such as the Yahoo! toolbar.
