How to Use the Alibi Witness App

Top Buttons

Tap the underlined camera icon to choose which cameras are displayed in live view. Tap the “three periods” menu to access the playback menu.

Bottom Buttons

Tap the 1, 4, 9, 12 or 16 icon to show the respective number of cameras. We recommend displaying 1 or 4 cameras at once when using a cellular connection.

Tap the Microphone button to speak with the party at the other side of the camera (if equipped). Tap the Zoom icon to zoom in on the image. You can also “pinch and drag” on your device to zoom in on an image. While zoomed in you can drag the view around.

Tap the “SD” icon to adjust between quality of the image and speed of the video. This condition may need to be changed depending on your cellular or wifi connection. If you connection is slow, for example, you should choose “Clear”, otherwise you should leave it as “Fluent”.

Tap the camera icon to take a picture of the video on screen and save it to your device.

PTZ and Device Control

Tap the PTZ icon to control and move your point/tilt/zoom camera and move it up, down, zoom in, etc. (if equipped).

If your camera system is integrated into your light system, gate controller, etc., tap the “Activate an output” button in order to activate the associated device.

Camera Playback

In order to access playback, tap the three period icon at the top right and then tap “Playback”.

Controlling Playback

Once you have entered the playback page, tap the “Play/pause” button to play/pause the video.

Tap the “Take a picture” button to take a picture of the video and save it to your device.

The bottom of the playback screen shows yellow lines to indicate motion and/or recorded video. More yellow lines indicate more motion that was detected and recorded.

Tap the < or > icons to jump back or forward a day, and tap the date to choose a playback date on the calendar.

Swipe or drag the yellow line section left or right to move the playback timeline back or forward. You can also “pinch and zoom” in order to zoom in or out of the playback timeline. This allows you to quickly find the time you are looking for.

Returning to the App

When you leave and return to the app you should tap the name of the system you want to access. In the picture below you would tap on “Work” in order to access the cameras. Some versions may display a picture of the recorder rather than a name; tap this icon to open your cameras.
