CDVI access panel battery connection hanging on for dear life
This is the kind of ridiculous work that gives low voltage companies and their techs a bad reputation in both the trades and the industry.
You’re looking at a backup battery inside of a CDVI door access panel that is wired up with 24 gauge CAT5 network cable. Needless to say this was a completely ineffective connection; simply moving the twisted-on cable around caused it to fail.
Who needs the proper connectors anyway, right?
What makes this so egregious (aside from the obvious) is that 1) the company that the customer said did this has been in the business for a long, long time; and 2) this was installed in an environment where security is critical.
The rest of the system was an absolute rat’s nest of wiring and splices, so this battery setup really shouldn’t be too big of a surprise.
To the company that did this – you know who you are and you know what you did. Do better.
